About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a Manager Academic Affairs (Full-time) to join the team at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center UTHealth Houston Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. In this position, you will provide comprehensive academic advising and support to graduate students throughout their training, including guidance on academic requirements, research rotations, mentor selection, degree progress, and resolution of academic or training-related concerns. The position will also collaborate closely with faculty, program leadership, and other university offices to support student success and administer academic policies and processes. The ideal candidate should be comfortable interpreting academic policies, handling complex or sensitive student matters with discretion and sound judgment, managing multiple priorities independently, and communicating clearly with a variety of stakeholders. Experience in graduate education, biomedical sciences, or a research-intensive academic environment would be beneficial.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in related discipline required

• Experience developing or improving student-facing programs, processes, resources, or communications, preferred.
• Experience in graduate education, biomedical sciences, or a research-intensive academic environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages academic programs, including program creation, evaluation, and modification in partnership with institutional and external stakeholders.
• Acts as a liaison and facilitates the development of new program partnerships with internal and external entities.
• Assists with the development, implementation, and evaluation of academic policies, procedures, and processes related to advising, student progression, and academic programs.
• Guides, trains, and supports faculty and staff regarding academic advising policies and procedures for all programs offered.
• Manages all academic advising and related planning processes to ensure that the needs and desires of prospective and current students are met with regard to academic advising and student support.
• Serves as the primary lead and representative for academic advising and program information for prospective students, applicants, current students, faculty, and administration.
• Coordinates and manages applicant review procedures for all programs including communication with applicants, admissions committees, and faculty leads regarding applications.
• Supports the implementation of new academic initiatives and improvements to existing academic programs, policies, processes, and systems.
• Plans and implements events hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs including, but not limited to, the support of prospective and current student academic and advising processes and academic programs.
• Originates, executes, and oversees the annual budget for position related activities and groups.
• Counsels students on program requirements, course selection, and academic procedures.
• Acts as a liaison with the Registrar's Office for all financial and statistical data pertaining to academic support.
• Collects, analyzes, and reports academic and student data to support program evaluation, decision-making, accreditation, institutional reporting, and strategic planning, as applicable.
• Manages Human Resources activities of department in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluations, and salary planning.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
