Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5+ years of experience within a related software engineering field., OR Masters degree in Science, Technology Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 3+ years of experience within a related software engineering field.
U.S. citizenship required with an active Secret clearance to start.
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead a diverse multi-disciplinary team with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.
Hands-on programming experience with one or more high-level programming languages such as Python, C/C++, Java, C#.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree or PhD in computer science or computer engineering with 3+ years within a related engineering field.
Experience managing engineering teams of 6 or more.
Experience with full-stack software engineering.
Experience with software CI/CD tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins
Experience with development task tracking software such as Jira or Azure DevOps
Experience with SQL and NoSQL database design, management, optimization, and interaction.
Experience with Agile software development, object-oriented architecture, software integration and testing.
Software rapid prototyping experience to include designing and implementing solutions with minimal formal requirements.
The ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
Full life cycle design, implementation, and automated testing of software.

Responsibilities

Support the Chantilly site programs in developing and managing software activities across various active projects / programs.
Lead a software team working within the Chantilly E&S department.
Lead direct report employees to accomplish organizational goals, deliver program results, and align with company policies.
Coordinate programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and compensation, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary.
Responsible for periodic review, update, and definition of technical process documents.
Provide and perform technical support.
Provide technical leadership to the execution team to ensure that best practices as well as the applicable engineering processes and procedures are fully and adequately implemented.
Support the implementation of sustainable continuous improvement.
Support the development and implementation of a critical skills growth strategy focused on building world class execution teams.
Support the software life cycle engineering execution to include design, development, test/integration, and deployment/sustainment activities.
Accountable to stakeholders and program managers for project status reviews, impediments / roadblock resolution, and the overall engineering / product quality execution.
Partner with the program management office to ensure successful execution while accounting for cost, schedule, and resources management targets.
