About The Position

The Management Trainee (MT) program at Expeditors is a one-year, structured training curriculum designed to provide successful individuals with a holistic understanding of the company's systems, products, and services. The program aims to build foundational tactical knowledge to support operations across the enterprise, offering critical on-the-job experience and teaching basic management and organizational skills. Upon successful completion, candidates are typically offered a supervisory position. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the Management Trainee Orientation meeting.
  • Complete monthly recaps and presentations.
  • Learn, understand, and epitomize the Expeditors culture.
  • Set an example of excellence in every task.
  • Fulfill full-time employee training requirements.
  • Complete relevant learning activities and assigned training.
  • Attend leadership sessions.
  • Complete relevant certifications.
  • Understand and assist with operations of each department.
  • Understand the management processes used within each department.
  • Understand and assist with the responsibilities and duties of the supervisors/managers of each department.
  • Understand and work with the operational and financial reporting used by each department.
  • Assist department managers in meeting productivity and expense-to-revenue goals within budget.
  • Learn how to supervise and mentor employees.
  • Develop interpersonal communication and management skills.
  • Complete projects as required for selected departments.
  • Attend all department, sales, branch, accounting, and management meetings as needed.
  • Attend at least two product-specific sales or retention calls for each department.
  • Meet and finalize schedule with Department Manager and Supervisor to ensure all items on MT Checklist are learned and understood whilst in the current Department.
  • Attend monthly meetings with Department Manager and DM to review time in Department, including any Improve Opportunities.
  • Complete attachments in all assigned products and services following the Product/Service Checklist (inclusive of additional DM items).
  • Identify and take note of operational inefficiencies in order to prepare for the Improve It Projects.
  • Where possible, work with respective product and service managers to implement quick win changes.
  • Complete all trainings required for the completion of the MT program.
  • Perform tasks as requested by the District Manager.
