About The Position

The Management Development Program (MDP) is a one-year, non-rotational training program designed for recent college graduates. Participants will engage in ten weeks of Core Training and one year of On-the-Job (OJT) training. The program aims to develop participants' skills in sales, accounting, project management, and leadership, depending on their career track. Training methods include classroom study, divisional orientations, and teamwork on group projects, coupled with on-the-job training for immediate application in their assigned department. Upon completion, participants will possess the basic skills necessary to become entry-level professionals and/or managers in their assigned department. This specific role will provide analytical, operational, and project support within Deposit & Payment Services, focusing on driving process improvements, supporting compliance, and enabling strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree candidate at a school where M&T Bank recruits MDPs (or an MBA student with no work experience).
  • Outstanding academic credentials (GPA of 3.0 or better).
  • Up to 1 year's work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in ten weeks of Core Training, including classroom sessions, observations, senior management interaction, peer networking, and team-based group projects.
  • Engage in one year of On-the-Job (OJT) training, with responsibilities varying by department and assigned by the department manager.
  • Provide analytical, operational, and project support to functional areas within Deposit & Payment Services.
  • Drive process improvements, support compliance, and enable strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and produce departmental reports and spreadsheets, delivering accurate and timely analyses.
  • Apply critical thinking and business acumen to influence outcomes and support team results.
  • Draft, edit, and maintain procedures for assigned functional areas, seeking opportunities for innovation and operational excellence.
  • Support audits, user certification, and compliance testing activities, upholding integrity and accountability.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls.
  • Lead and participate in planning, testing, and implementing new projects, systems, products, and regulatory changes.
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting and escalations, coordinating with internal business partners, external vendors, and Technology teams.
  • Build alliances and communicate effectively to ensure cross-functional team collaboration.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a growth mindset.
  • Complete tasks in a manner that is compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
