The department oversees streets, traffic systems, landscaping, lighting, water, sewer, and storm drains, as well as City-owned facilities and vehicle fleets. Public Works also provides engineering, environmental compliance, and inspection services, manages capital improvement projects and recycling programs, and administers the City’s solid waste franchise. Requirements

  • Knowledge of municipal administration, budgeting, accounting, auditing, and grants management.
  • Familiarity with techniques for financial, statistical, and comparative analysis.
  • Strong grasp of research methods, report writing, and effective communication.
  • Ability to research, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, laws, and data to develop sound recommendations.
  • Demonstrates capacity to perform complex administrative work requiring independent judgment and initiative.
  • Able to assist in budget development, monitor revenues/expenditures, and perform accurate mathematical calculations.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, accounting, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of responsible governmental administrative experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the full budget cycle, including reviewing expenditures and revenues, preparing projections coordinating deadlines, and supporting departmental budget submissions.
  • Support financial reporting activities by analyzing financial data and contributing to the preparation and accuracy of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
  • Review, prepare, and process a variety of administrative and financial documents such as contracts, amendments, invoices, purchase orders, and personnel-related forms.
  • Prepare and facilitate staff reports, contracts, and background materials for City Council consideration; conduct background research; gather support materials; and appropriate approved budget adjustments.
  • Support special projects, including maintaining the City’s Capital Improvement Program schedule, funding details, expenditures, and related charts, tables, and reporting materials.
  • Participate in developing departmental goals and objectives; recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and workflows.
