About The Position

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Managed Care Communications Specialist in the Health Care Services Division. The Communications and Outreach Specialist (Managed Care Communications Specialist) is responsible for ensuring compliance and effective implementation of Cardinal Care Managed Care Communications. The position develops strategies to promote program awareness and enhance public understanding of program activities and goals. Success in this role requires strong communication skills and extensive knowledge of Managed Care programs and operations. The Specialist coordinates Managed Care and communications, oversees website content for accuracy and compliance, and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop effective materials. The role also analyzes outreach efforts to inform improvements and strengthen engagement. The incumbent ensures that all members and marketing communications are accurate, accessible, and compliant with Managed Care contractual requirements by reviewing materials submitted by Managed Care Organizations (MCOs). Additional responsibilities include supporting MCO compliance, managing communications for current and prospective Cardinal Care members, and maintaining engagement with members, providers, and MCOs to resolve inquiries related to communications, claims, and access to care. The business needs for this position have in office requirements to include but are not limited to some statewide travel to deliver presentations and participate in meetings, conferences, and work groups. Located in beautiful Central Virginia, the Richmond area puts you just 2 hours from the Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia Beach and Washington DC. Requirements

  • Considerable experience in Medicaid managed care or health care.
  • Considerable experience managing communications and marketing operations.
  • Considerable experience developing multi-channel communications (e.g., presentations, social media, email, virtual events) in a health care environment.
  • Considerable experience overseeing contract compliance and monitoring vendor performance.
  • Considerable experience using case tracking or similar systems.
  • Considerable experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of and experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Experience in meeting deadlines.
  • Experience with internal and external stakeholders.
