About The Position

This position is responsible for operating X-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated areas of the body for diagnostic purposes. The technologist assists physicians in performing imaging procedures, reviews and correlates patients' previous reports, and serves as a point of contact for various medical departments. Ensuring proper documentation during exams and performing specimen imaging with correct labeling for pathology are also key aspects of the role. The company, AHS Investment Corporation (AHSIC), is a wholly owned for-profit subsidiary of Atlantic Health, which provides state-of-the-art imaging services across multiple locations, including specialized breast imaging and adherence to image gently® recommendations for pediatric patients.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices.
  • Patient shielding skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Positions patient on examining table and changes immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves x-ray equipment into specified position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors such as time and distance basis knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and knowledge of applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Operates mobile x-ray equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Specializes in production of screening and diagnostic x-rays for detection of breast tumors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
