About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. We have a new Hologic Mammography machine. Apply and come check it out! Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes.

Requirements

  • Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Certified or obtain ARRT certification in Mammography within one year of hire.
  • When applicable, maintenance of a valid driver’s license and good driving record is required.
  • Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

  • A thorough understanding of mammography techniques and procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures accurate body positioning and provides mammograms to women under direct supervision.
  • Implements radiation safety standards and relevant policies into imaging practices.
  • Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images.
  • Delivers care and support services to clients before, during, and after mammogram procedures (e.g. explaining procedures, answering inquires, etc.).
  • Maintains records and updates history associated with mammography.
  • Educates women the importance of mammography in preventing breast cancer.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and an understanding of anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Maintains continuing education credits as necessary.
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols.
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
