About The Position

To perform mammography procedures utilizing X-ray imaging equipment to produce images of the breast for the screening, diagnosis, and/or treatment of diseases or injuries while ensuring optimal patient care and safety.

Requirements

  • Medical Radiologic Technologist license from the Mississippi State Department of Health.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association post-hire within 90 days.
  • Mammography (M) from American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, Radiation Physics and Protection, and the principles of Imaging.
  • Skill in the use of imaging equipment.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to comply with radiation protection practices.
  • Ability to alleviate patient anxiety.

Responsibilities

  • Performs mammography procedures to produce images of the breast.
  • Explains procedures to patients, obtains and records relevant medical history, selects appropriate equipment settings, and positions patients to facilitate optimal imaging results.
  • Reviews images to determine quality and forwards them for interpretation; maintains applicable patient documentation.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and a clean work area; report equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for patient safety; provides physical and psychological comfort to patients.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental, exposure control, and infection control practices.
