About The Position

Centerpoint Health—Georgetown, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Mammography Technician to join their team. This role is vital in performing mammography procedures, educating patients, and ensuring high-quality diagnostic imaging. The position is full-time, with a schedule of Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Centerpoint Health—Georgetown is a 75-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to the Georgetown community and is recognized for its affiliations with the Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network and the Gill Heart & Vascular Institute Affiliate Network, as well as its Joint Commission Accreditation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a Program in Discipline - Required
  • KY State Radiation Operator License
  • ARRT Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs mammography procedures in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • May assist physician with performing interventional procedures including fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Participates in ensuring compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditations.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s), biopsies, stereotactic and special procedures.
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits, and reports scan results. Keeps current with BiRad and follow-ups on all patients.
