Requirements

ARRT certification in Radiography (R) required
ARRT advanced certification in Mammography (M) required
Valid state radiologic technologist license current (where applicable)
Current BLS certification
MQSA compliant — 15 breast CEUs every 3 years maintained
Initial mammography training documentation complete (25 signed-off exams)
Tomosynthesis and digital training documentation current
Proficiency in digital/tomosynthesis equipment, RIS, and PACS
Strong patient communication skills — especially in sensitive situations
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working independently
Willingness to mentor students and contribute to a positive clinical culture

Nice To Haves

1+ year of mammography experience preferred

Responsibilities

Perform screening and diagnostic mammography—including tomosynthesis—in full compliance with ACR, MQSA, and facility protocols.
Ensure accurate positioning and optimal compression technique, holding accountability for image quality.
Select appropriate exposure parameters and apply ALARA principles.
Master breast anatomy, mammographic positioning, and digital tomosynthesis.
Be proficient on digital mammography equipment, RIS, and PACS systems.
Ensure thorough documentation and precise image labeling.
Perform QA work to maintain facility compliance and accreditation.
Verify patient identity, review medical history, and explain procedures clearly.
Handle all patient interactions with dignity and professionalism, putting patients at ease and making the exam as comfortable as possible without compromising image quality.
Maintain ARRT certification in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M), state license (where required), current BLS, and MQSA-mandated 15 breast CEUs every three years.
Ensure initial training documentation, tomosynthesis training documentation, and digital training records are complete and current.
Manage personal workflow in a busy outpatient environment, keeping rooms ready, performing routine quality assurance, and maintaining equipment.
Adapt to schedule shifts.
Mentor students by providing hands-on guidance and modeling professionalism and technical precision.
