About The Position

This is a Full Time Position responsible for the daily operation of the women’s health section of radiology. The role involves suggesting changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement, as well as coordinating training and development in breast imaging specialties. The technologist must adhere to all FDA guidelines for the mammography section, maintain appropriate records for accreditation processes and inspections, and ensure a structured reporting system for accurate audit reporting, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues. Daily QA and preventative maintenance scheduling are also key responsibilities. The position requires advanced knowledge of Mammography imaging procedures, performing exams based on departmental protocols or in coordination with a Radiologist, and practicing radiation safety adhering to ALARA standards. The technologist must be able to operate equipment according to manufacturer recommendations, troubleshoot equipment problems, and independently call for service when needed. Responsibilities also include verifying exam orders, identifying patients, providing exam education, reviewing and documenting medical history, obtaining informed consent, and ensuring all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete. Accurate patient records must be maintained in EHR, including charging procedures and supplies. The role may require performing other functions within the clinic, with additional training provided as needed. Flexibility is demonstrated by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts. Additional training or certification may be required. Clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation may also be part of the role, as well as assisting, training, or cross-training imaging staff members. The position requires self-motivation, independent judgment, and the ability to work with minimum supervision. Ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory are also responsibilities. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
  • ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain within 90 days of hire or transfer)
  • Two (2) years prior experience as a practicing Radiologic Technologist, CT, and MRI Technologist

Nice To Haves

  • Cross-trained into other modalities, including, but not limited to: CT, MRI, and DEXA.
  • Experience with electronic records, including PACS and RIS/HIS

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily operation of the women’s health section of radiology.

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of Mammography imaging procedures
  • Performs all exams based on Imaging Department Protocols or protocols the exam with the Radiologist.
  • Practices radiation safety, adhering to ALARA standards.
  • Ability to operate equipment consistently with the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Troubleshoots equipment problems and independently calls a service engineer if the malfunction needs outside maintenance.
  • Verifies exam orders, identifies the patient through two means of identification, and provides exam education.
  • Reviews and documents the patient’s medical history, obtains required informed consent, and ensures all necessary paperwork and prior studies are complete and available before submitting procedures for Radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintains accurate patient records in EHR, including charging procedures and supplies.
  • May be required to perform other functions within the clinic. Any additional training required will be provided.
  • Demonstrates flexibility by assisting in other modalities, adjusting schedules, and taking calls, overtime, or holiday shifts as needed.
  • Obtains additional training or certification as required.
  • Assists with clerical duties, phone reception, and patient transportation when required.
  • Assists, trains, or cross-trains imaging staff members as directed.
  • Must be self-motivated, use independent judgment, and be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Responsible for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supply inventory.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining adherence to departmental, hospital, state, and federal standards and policies.
  • Follows all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, the public, and staff.
