About The Position

This position involves performing mammography and bone density exams, with opportunities to learn biopsies and other procedures. The Mammography Technologist works under the medical supervision of Certified Radiologists, performing procedures for direct interpretation. They will also assist Radiologists with procedures as needed and supervise student Radiologic Technologists. The role requires maintaining good customer relations and adhering to established protocols.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Allied Health Professionals.
  • At least 6 months experience in radiologic technology.
  • Completion of 40 hours Mammography training.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiologic Technology and Mammography.
  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
  • Certified or documentation that certification has been applied for with the SCRQSA.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Mature individual who projects a professional and business-like appearance.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of work-related information.

Nice To Haves

  • Occasional floating to other department locations for coverage purposes.
  • Will learn biopsies and other procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform procedures for the direct results of interpretation.
  • Assist the Radiologists on procedures as needed.
  • Be responsible for supervision of student Radiologic Technologists assigned to them.
  • Encourage and maintain good customer relations.
  • Perform and teach Mammography exams to produce satisfactory diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Responsible for the safe operation of Breast Imaging and post processing equipment.
  • Perform quality control to meet MQSA standards.
