About The Position

Performs and assumes responsibility for the safety of the patient during their examination. Reviews patient medical history and support clinical information. Ensures that the examination order is complete, contains relevant information, and meets the standard of “medical necessity.” Evaluates any contraindications, insufficient patient preparation, and the patient’s inability or unwillingness to tolerate the examination and associated procedures. Communicates with the patient in a manner appropriate to the patient’s ability to understand. Uses proper patient positioning tools, devices, equipment adjustment, and ergonomically correct scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort and safety, and to prevent compromised data acquisition and musculoskeletal injury to the technologist or patient. Conducts patient clinical assessment and performs the examination ordered by the supervising physician in accordance with professional and facility protocols. Applies independent judgment during the examination to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the examination images. Except as authorized by written facility policies and procedures, refers specific diagnostic, treatment or prognosis questions to the appropriate physician or healthcare professional. As necessary, acquires additional imaging to facilitate optimum diagnostic results for the interpreting physician. Identifies and documents any limitations to the examination. Reviews examination images, synthesizes examination information. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA) and facility policies and procedures. Adheres to accepted professional and ethical standards. Provides patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for radiology. Assists with the daily operation of the imaging department. Assists with the education and training of radiology/ mammography students and physician residents. Transports patients as needed. Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the life span of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence: 13 - 17 years; Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years.

Requirements

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification
  • BLS certified
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT0 certification in Mammogram within one year of hire.
  • Diagnostic Equipment.
  • Ama Accredited Nuclear Medicine Program Or Equivalent.
  • Crt/Hospital Computer System
  • Excellent Communication Skills, Both Written And Verbal.
  • Diplomacy, Tact, And A Positive Approach To Problem Solving Are Required To Be Successful.
  • Organizational Skills Are A Must-Have.
  • Fosters A Teamwork Environment.
  • Must Be Able To Communicate With Patients, Customers, Other Departments, And Staff In An Articulate Manner.
