Get to Know Your Team: Seton Medical Center Harker Heights is an 83-bed acute care hospital offering services such as Cardiology, Emergency Services and a Level IV Trauma Designated ER, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Gastroenterology, Diagnostic Services and more.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program of Radiologic Technology.
  • 2+ years of experience as a mammography technologist
  • Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a General Medical Radiologic Technologist (GMRT)
  • Registered radiologic technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M).
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily clinical and administrative operations of the mammography department.
  • Assisting in the delivery of personalized, professional and quality patient care, internal and external customer service.
  • Performance of all Mammography examinations.
  • Transportation of patients to and from Imaging Services.
  • Preparation of all departmental paperwork.
  • Answering the department’s telephone.
  • Scheduling of patients.
  • Entering and retrieving patient information from the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) and Hospital Information System (HIS).
  • Maintaining the work area in a clean and organized manner.
  • Explains Mammography procedure to the patient and/or family member in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Performs Mammography procedures ascertaining appropriate imaging parameters (MAS, KVP, positioning, etc.) are utilized, providing physician with a quality diagnostic procedure.
  • Provides education on an as needed basis to new and existing clinical team members.
  • Manages clinical team members on a daily basis, ensuring compliance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Performs quality control on equipment ascertaining compliance with regulations. Notifies management immediately of any potential malfunction or hazard of equipment.
  • Maintains all documentation supporting the quality control program and regulatory compliance.
  • Serves as a point of contact for physician offices requiring clinical information and responds to requests within 24 hours.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with the dictating radiologist to ensure department images are constantly evaluated and improved.
  • Orders supplies for the division, ensuring that patient care is not interrupted.
  • Prepares and maintains department paperwork, verifying accuracy of information.
