About The Position

The Mammography Technologist performs routine screening mammography examinations and obtains high-quality radiographs that optimally demonstrate anatomy and/or pathology while maximizing patient comfort and safety. The technologist educates patients about their examinations, supports patient safety, and properly uses procedure-related patient care and support devices appropriate to the patient’s age. The role also involves maintaining a relaxed environment for anxious patients and alerting the Supervisor and/or appropriate staff to potential problems or equipment malfunctions. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Associate degree or higher.
• Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiologic Technology program.
• California Radiologic Technologist Diagnostic Radiologic Technology license (CRTXR).
• California Radiologic Technologist Mammographic Radiologic Technology license (CRTMA), required by date of hire.
• ARRT Radiography certification (RTR).
• AHA BLS certification.
• ARRT Mammography certification (RTM), or obtain it within 6 months of hire if not already held.

Nice To Haves

• 6 months to 1 year of experience is preferred; new graduates with a State of California Mammography License (CRT M) will also be considered.
• Knowledge of EMR systems and EPIC is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain images of excellent diagnostic quality to demonstrate anatomy and/or pathology while providing patient comfort and safety.
• Educate patients about their examinations.
• Take measures to support patient safety and properly use age-appropriate procedure-related patient care and support devices.
• Alert the Supervisor and/or appropriate staff to potential problems or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain a relaxed environment to calm anxious patients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
