About The Position

Performs all requested mammography procedures including breast localizations and stereotactic breast biopsies. This position performs ancillary duties, patient care functions, and procedures as required by the Minnesota Department of Health and the FDA MQSA. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and related criteria for adult and geriatric patients. This position will also serve as a Radiologic Technologist in general X-ray, fluoroscopy, and surgery as assigned to meet patient care and departmental needs. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in a related field of study and graduate of an accredited radiography program.
  • ARRT certified in Radiography and Mammography registry eligible with certification obtained within 18 months of employment.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • One year prior mammography experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and reviews each patient’s mammography requisition for accuracy of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
  • Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with patients and co-workers.
  • Performs all required mammography examinations properly positioning the patient and equipment.
  • Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety and comfort.
  • Selects the correct procedure and radiographic technique.
  • Reviews each examination for technical accuracy.
  • Presents completed examination to Radiologist and communicates pertinent data on a need to know basis.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
  • Complies with organization and department mandatory training and assist with the orientation and training of new employees and students.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety and environmental/infection control standards.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and completes mandatory educational requirements.
  • Understands, supports, and integrates into one’s position the organization’s mission/vision/values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
