About The Position

The mammography technologist is responsible for the independent operation of x-ray equipment, using knowledge of positioning patients, general anatomy and physiology, and to record and present images to be reviewed by the Radiologist. They perform a variety of technical procedures in the scope of their position which may include screening and diagnostic mammograms, to include 2D and 3D (tomosynthesis), dexa scans, galactograms, needle localizations, mammogram-guided biopsies and stereotactic biopsy procedures.

Requirements

  • Registered by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in Mammography
  • Licensed by State of Louisiana in Radiologic Technology
  • Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provided courses such as but not limited to: Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check off.
  • Must maintain compliance with the CE and exams performed requirements of their certifying organization.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with patients of all types and ages
  • Must possess strong guest relations skills as excellent communication/social skills are specifically required for the mammography technologist position
  • Must be able to maintain a high standard of medical ethics at all times
  • Must be self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in mammography
  • EPIC experience is a plus
