About The Position

The Mammographer II is an experienced professional who provides specialized breast imaging services to OU Health patients to aid Providers in the diagnosis, care, treatment and surveillance of breast conditions, defects and/or diseases. This position is intended for experienced Mammographers who are focused on providing exceptional patient care while working towards expertise in the discipline. Work is typically performed in outpatient environments across OU Health locations.

Requirements

Associate's Degree from an accredited imaging/radiology program as defined by ARDMS, ARRT and/or CCI.
At least 3 years of experience as a Mammographer required.
Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
ARRT(RT)(M) required.
Solid knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology, mammography principles and radiologic terminology.
Applies core-level primary specialty theory and techniques to independently perform mammography exams, complete post-processing and image analysis, and accurately annotate study data and procedure documentation with minimal guidance.
Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction.
Communicates effectively through verbal and written means to convey accurate, timely information and collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
Ability to prioritize and independently complete clinical and non‑clinical work assignments with limited direction, applying sound judgment to manage workload, competing priorities, and changing demands.
Ability to multitask and remain calm in stressful situations, independently adjusting priorities and maintaining focus in fast‑paced or changing environments.

Responsibilities

Utilizes advanced skill set and knowledge to perform diagnostic imaging on patient as ordered by a care provider under limited supervision.
Ensures testing is performed safely and with the highest quality standards, maintaining a consistent focus on patient‑centric care.
Prepares patients for procedures and reviews clinical history to align with provider-ordered tests.
Responds to inquiries from patients and family members, provides clear information regarding diagnostic testing and expected result timelines.
Collaborates with team members across OU Health including Providers to provide exceptional patient care.
Utilizes a variety of highly specialized mammography equipment and techniques to perform a diverse range of diagnostic imaging in accordance with established scope of practice guidelines.
Conducts post-testing quality reviews without assistance to confirm that all required elements are completed, documented and align with departmental and accreditation standards.
Transfers images and data to the appropriate electronic health system, enters technical data/findings and prepares study for reporting by physician.
Performs quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting and other equipment maintenance tasks per manufacturer instructions for use and other regulatory guidelines.
Ensures that technical quality of performed testing meets established protocols and applicable accreditation standards.
Serves as a departmental preceptor to provide instruction and mentorship to new or less experienced team members.
Assists with onboarding of new team members.
Supports OU Health's academic partnerships by actively engaging in teaching of students in the radiologic program.
Assists with quality assurance and performance improvement tasks as assigned.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge by preparing and presenting in-service trainings as requested by leadership.
Ensures timely patient care by providing adequate time slots for daily appointments and working at a pace that supports the daily schedule.
Supports the team by building skill sets to perform additional testing across the department such as QC, general diagnostic imaging and/or diagnostic procedures.
May Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and quality assurance methods.
Supports inventory tasks as needed to help ensure supplies are available.
Performs other duties as assigned.
