Under the direction of a radiologist, performs radiographic mammography at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. The Mammographer performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. They may have individual responsibility for specified radiographic procedures and/or may be assigned duties as an instructor. The role is responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients. The Mammographer must be able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedures, assist in maintaining basic records and reports, assist in maintaining files, and perform daily quality assurance procedures in the mammography area. Other duties as required.
