About The Position

Performs mammography exams as directed by physicians, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, and needle localizations. This role involves ensuring the quality of completed exams, assisting radiologists, scheduling patients, and maintaining compliance with departmental policies and governmental regulations such as MQSA. The Mammographer is also responsible for maintaining records, assisting with facility and equipment care, and utilizing the Radiology Information System and PACS.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of accredited program in Radiologic Technology.
Registry with the ARRT in Radiology required.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required.
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.

Registry in Mammography preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform mammographic exams on patients as ordered by physicians, selecting appropriate techniques to achieve desired quality.
Assist Radiologist with needle localizations, ensuring all necessary records, consents, and supplies are available.
Schedule patients for mammograms and follow-up exams.
Comply with established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
Maintain required departmental records, reports, and files for governmental agency compliance, adhering to MQSA policies and procedures.
Assist with inspections.
Assist in the care and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and supplies.
Keep work area clean.
Perform informational seminars whenever possible.
Enter exams in the Radiology Information System and PACS.
Send for outside films for comparisons.
Attend services and other meetings as required (50% attendance of department meetings required).
Perform duties of Radiology Technologist as needed.
Send and retrieve images from both cloud systems.
Perform other duties as directed by Diagnostic Imaging Director.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
