About The Position

Operates mammography equipment to produce radiographic images of the breast. Ability to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms; all specialty views, galactograms, needle localizations, and breast ultrasound. This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Use and Patient Protection Act (OMMA).

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Certification in Mammography required.
  • 6 months to 1 year related experience.
  • Competent to perform screening and diagnostic mammograms on men and women of mammography age 18 - 100 years.
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of mammography unit and advanced positioning skills.
  • Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic mammography, galactograms and needle localizations.
  • Performs breast ultrasound: exercises appropriate judgement, efficiency, and correct technique in the performance of ultrasound imaging.
  • Performs timely screening mammography, with less than 5% repeat rate.
  • Enters accurate patient history and charges off exam.
  • Explains exam in a manner patient can understand, gains patient cooperation and reduces patient anxiety.
  • Complies with all departmental and hospital policies.
  • Performs other duties as required by lead technologist or manager.
