About The Position

Global Impact Group LLC is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and ISO 9001 / ISO 17100 certified provider of interpretation and translation services. We deliver secure, high-quality language access in 80+ languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Malayalam Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Malayalam, a Dravidian language spoken in Kerala, India, is a priority South Asian language frequently required in immigration and asylum cases.

Requirements

Native or near-native fluency in Malayalam and English.
2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, community, legal, healthcare, or government preferred).
Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
Excellent telephone communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance.

Nice To Haves

Any certifications (court, medical, community, or ATA interpreting credentials preferred).

Responsibilities

Provide real-time Malayalam ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders.
Interpret accurately and impartially in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards.
Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and QA reviews.
