About The Position

Responsible for the creation and assembly of cores used in the metal casting process.

  • Must infrequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and create cores on a shell core machine by following technical specifications and production plans.
  • Utilize sand, resins, and other materials to form core shapes required for aluminum casting.
  • Set up area with jigs, files, racks, trays, bins, glue, and mud.
  • Assemble cores, ensuring proper alignment and consistency to meet product specifications.
  • Attach core components to patterns and verify core integrity.
  • Inspect finished cores for any defects and inconsistencies and be able to apply mudding compound to ensure a smooth, flawless core.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure the cores meet production standards and tolerances.
  • Operate core-making equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations in the foundry environment, wearing required protective gear (PPE) and adhering to safety protocols to prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Assist with routine maintenance of core-making equipment and machinery.
  • Report any issues or malfunctions to the maintenance team for repair.
  • Work closely with other foundry team members, including molders, supervisors, maintenance, and managers to ensure smooth production and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of core production, quality control checks, and material usage.
