About The Position
The Make Ready Assistant supports efficient and accurate job changeovers on Vistaflex and Miraflex flexographic printing machines. The role helps reduce downtime and ensures components meet job specifications before and during setup. Working closely with the press operator and prepress teams, the assistant verifies materials, installs components, and prepares the press for the next print run.
Responsibilities
- Visually inspect printing plates to confirm they match job specifications and are free of defects; promptly report issues to the Make Ready Lead or Press Team Lead.
- Confirm the type and placement of stickyback tape on each plate against the job pack request; report discrepancies to the Make Ready Lead and Press Team Lead.
- Verify that installed anilox rolls match the job pack request and report discrepancies.
- Inspect anilox rolls for scorelines, hits, or other damage and promptly report issues to the Make Ready Lead and Press Team Lead.
- Install plates for the upcoming job according to job pack instructions using Vistaport.
- Safely remove plates from the previous job using Vistaport.
- Remove anilox rolls used in the previous job and install the rolls specified for the next print run.
- Send used anilox rolls to the wash station or designated cleaning area, following proper handling procedures.
- Assist the Press Assistant with moving, removing, or replacing ink sumps during changeovers when required, handling them safely and avoiding contamination between jobs.
- May assist with changing ink sumps when asked.
