About The Position

CodeAI is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to establish a new pipeline of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individual donors, transforming these relationships into significant philanthropic partnerships. This role is crucial for funding the digital fluency that enables students to understand, direct, question, and create with technology. It is a ground-up prospecting and origination position where the officer will independently identify, qualify, cultivate, and close new HNW and UHNW donor relationships, rather than managing an existing portfolio or inbound leads. The goal is to achieve over $3 million in annual fundraising, with a focus on multi-year and transformational commitments, and to build sustainable major giving practices for CodeAI.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of frontline fundraising experience, with substantial experience in major individual giving and engaging HNW and UHNW individuals.
  • Demonstrated track record of building a major-donor portfolio from scratch, without primary reliance on an inherited book of business or warm leads.
  • Proven success in independently originating, cultivating, and closing six- and seven-figure transformational gifts and multi-year commitments across the full major-gift cycle.
  • Experience managing significant fundraising goals and a pipeline capable of producing multi-million-dollar annual revenue, with strong forecasting discipline.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM.
  • Experience partnering with CEOs, executives, and board members to advance high-value donor relationships.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication, storytelling, and proposal-development skills.
  • Judgment and discretion required to engage sophisticated philanthropic investors.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, create opportunity, and deliver results in an ambiguous, high-accountability environment.
  • Deep passion for CodeAI's mission.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must work within the continental United States.
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience fundraising in education, technology, AI, or another mission-driven environment.
  • Experience using events and high-touch experiences to originate and cultivate major-donor relationships.
  • Experience developing scalable prospecting and major-giving practices.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop HNW and UHNW prospects through research, wealth screening, referrals, executive and board networks, events, and direct outreach.
  • Lead prospects through the full fundraising cycle: qualification, discovery, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, and closing, with an emphasis on transformational and multi-year commitments.
  • Achieve approximately $3M+ in annual fundraising outcomes, maintaining pipeline coverage and providing accurate forecasts.
  • Develop tailored cultivation strategies connecting donor interests with CodeAI's mission, programs, and funding priorities.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, executives, and board members to engage leadership in advancing high-potential opportunities.
  • Design and execute donor experiences at events to identify new prospects and advance existing relationships.
  • Create compelling proposals, pitches, and presentations that align donor interests with CodeAI's vision and impact.
  • Establish repeatable approaches for prospect identification, outreach, qualification, cultivation, and conversion to enhance major giving capabilities.
  • Maintain accurate prospect and opportunity records in Salesforce, facilitating cross-departmental collaboration for gift processing and stewardship.
  • As a secondary focus, identify and cultivate new foundation and corporate funding opportunities.
