About The Position
This position is for a Maintenance Worker at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center in Houston, TX. The role involves supporting licensed trades with preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The worker will also be responsible for staging materials, disassembling and reassembling components, conducting building walk-throughs, initiating electronic work orders, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe shop and work area. The position is a 1-year contract with a possibility of an additional year extension and requires 24/7 coverage across three shifts.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Maintenance Worker with commercial or hospital experience
- Basic electrical/plumbing/HVAC/carpentry support skills
- Ability to assist journeyman trades
- Use of conventional tools with judgment to adapt techniques
- Any state license works
