About The Position
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform multi-trade preventive and corrective maintenance tasks at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. This role involves routine inspections, maintaining and repairing various building systems and components, and supporting other trades as needed. The position is a 1-year contract with a potential for extension, requiring 24/7 coverage across three shifts.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Maintenance Mechanic with commercial or hospital experience
- Multi-trade competency (carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, HVAC, finishes)
- CMMS/Maximo work order management
- Independent diagnosis and repair planning
- Any state license works
Responsibilities
- Perform multi-trade PM/corrective maintenance per work orders and PM schedules
- Conduct routine inspections and initiate corrective work orders
- Maintain/repair pumps, valves, doors, fixtures
- Support other trades on larger repairs/shutdowns
- Troubleshoot and determine repair scope independently
