About The Position

The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA) is seeking a Maintenance Worker to provide routine maintenance on buildings and grounds to ensure a welcoming, safe, and efficient campus environment. This role is crucial for maintaining the premier public high school environment that invests in the state's most talented and promising young minds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of general maintenance experience.
  • Interpersonal skills for working with maintenance staff, vendors, contractors, ASMSA staff, and students.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems.
  • Ability to work within a team setting to complete tasks.
  • Must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in trades.
  • Experience in a school setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work orders as assigned by the Facilities Manager, including but not limited to: setting up chairs/tables for events, minor remodel work (sheetrock installation, door hanging, surface preparation, scraping, painting), routine electrical or mechanical repairs, and grounds work (mowing/weeding/trimming).
  • Assist in unloading goods delivered to ASMSA and pick up authorized local vendor purchases.
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and supplies are stored properly after use and request additional hand tools when sharing is inefficient.
  • Assist with janitorial duties as needed.
  • Report any problems that arise or become known during routine work to the Facilities Manager.
  • Participate in required OSHA training sessions.
  • Submit ideas for cost savings through energy conservation, efficiency increases, and waste reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
