The Maintenance Worker performs facilities maintenance involving two or more skilled trades, completing intermediate-level tasks with increasing independence as training and experience grow. Work may involve plumbing, washer and dryer maintenance, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical work, carpentry, and painting, as well as other semi-skilled and unskilled tasks using standard facility-maintenance methods. The employee maintains work-order logs, follows up on requests, reports work status to a supervisor, and logs contractor-related trouble calls when appropriate. Work may be performed independently under routine instructions, with unfamiliar problems referred to a supervisor. Blueprints, manufacturer instructions, manuals, and maintenance specifications are used when available. Assignments may be spot-checked daily through documented inspection reports. The position requires compliance with Department of Defense and Navy regulations and completion of required safety and security training. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, with possible exposure to extreme weather or temperatures and occasional dusty or dirty conditions. The role involves substantial standing, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, climbing, and lifting. Personal protective equipment is provided. Weekend and holiday work, rotating shifts outside normal duty hours, recall to duty, and overtime—including emergency overtime—may be required. A valid state driver’s license may be required if travel to other facilities is part of the assignment; applicants will be notified if it is required for appointment.
