About The Position

Under supervision to perform a variety of unskilled to semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of City facilities from parks and recreational areas to building, facilities, janitorial assignments, streets and sewers; operate appropriate equipment; and to perform other job-related work as required. Candidates must be available for night and weekend shifts. Shifts may vary based on the needs of the department. Current openings are for Friday through Sunday morning shifts and/or evenings.

Requirements

DMV K-4 printout (official printout of your driving record – no screenshots). Printout MUST be obtained from the DMV's office and be dated within 30 days from August 13, 2026.
Driver's License (a scan copy must be attached to your application)
Prior experience performing grounds and landscaping maintenance tasks, heavy manual labor, and the operation of power-driven and motorized equipment used in general maintenance and repair is desirable
Knowledge of general tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair and landscape work.
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of power driven hand tools and light vehicles including mowers, edgers, and other landscape maintenance equipment.
Knowledge of safe work practices.
Ability to learn and perform general public works maintenance assignments.
Ability to perform a variety of heavy, physical labor involving strength, dexterity and coordination.
Ability to safely and efficiently operate basic and power driven tools and motorized equipment.
Ability to perform assigned tasks independently and accurately.
Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and repair.
Ability to maintain basic records of work performed and materials used.
Ability to read, write and follow instructions at the level required for successful job performance.
Ability to maintain good public relations with people contacted during work assignment.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of unskilled manual to semi-skilled tasks involving the maintenance, repair, cleaning and upkeep of City parks, golf course, recreational and sports areas, buildings, facilities and assist with same for streets and sewer maintenance.
Assists in basic park and building maintenance tasks such as weed abatement, janitorial maintenance and duties, raking leaves, tree and shrub pruning, etc.
Uses basic and power driven tools and maintenance equipment including mowers, edgers, weed-whackers, pruners, small riding equipment, and light trucks.
Cleans tools and equipment.
Performs manual labor such as loading and unloading materials into trucks, and moving and arranging furniture.
May open/close and clean rest room facilities and other buildings.
May maintain basic records of work performed and materials used.
May assist in controlling traffic in the vicinity of work assignments.
May perform some skilled maintenance and repair tasks in a training and learning capacity.
Reports any breakage and the need for complicated adjustments or repairs.
May be required to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays.
