Maintenance Worker - 1st Shift
About The Position
The Maintenance Worker performs routine maintenance tasks in response to requests following equipment or facility failures or in support of modifications or upgrades. Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications. Our Facility in Coxsackie, NY manufactures large, complex contoured structural components and assemblies for aerospace and other applications. Our integrated processes include stretch-forming, thermal-forming, chemical processing, precision fabrication, machining, finishing processes, and integration of components into subassemblies.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to follow verbal, written, and/or detailed instructions requiring simple judgment.
- Ability to make minor decisions and exercise care in order to execute satisfactory work.
Nice To Haves
- Five years’ electromechanical systems or technical A.A.S. preferred.
Responsibilities
- Diagnoses and repairs equipment in a timely manner.
- Reads and interprets technical manuals, drawings, and repair directives in order to repair failed or failing systems.
- Reacts to emergencies with a sense of urgency.
- Participates in preventative maintenance program.
- Participates as part of a team, including the sharing of information and knowledge.
- Maintains grounds as directed by Manager of Facilities, EH&S and/or Team Leader.
- Follows schedules and plans as required.
- Retains records of work performed.
- Orders parts on occasion.
- Engages with internal and external technical support in a professional manner.
- Participates in weekend coverage of the plant on a rotating basis with other maintenance workers.
- Follows all safety regulations and precautions.
- Maintains the maintenance area, tools, and supplies in accordance with 6S practices.
- Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
- Willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.
