About The Position

As a Maintenance Worker at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC), you will play a key role in keeping our rehabilitation center, warehouse, thrift stores, and administrative facilities safe, clean, and operational. Every repair, project, and improvement helps us continue our mission of Doing the Most Good®. This is a hands-on maintenance job where your work truly matters, supporting life-changing programs for individuals in our community.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of maintenance experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Basic painting and electrical skills
  • Proficient with small hand tools
  • Experience with equipment operation (lawnmowers, snow blowers, carpet cleaning equipment, buffers)
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Regularly required to stand, use hands, handle, feel, hear, and talk
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and focus adjustment

Nice To Haves

  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Basic electrical repair experience
  • Painting and drywall repair skills
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Familiarity with lawn and snow removal equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC support.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks to ensure facilities remain safe and functional.
  • Maintain flooring through cleaning, buffing, and upkeep.
  • Respond to maintenance requests across multiple Salvation Army locations.
  • Perform lawn care, landscaping, mowing, and grounds maintenance.
  • Assist with snow and ice removal during winter months.
  • Help maintain safe and welcoming exterior properties year-round.
  • Move furniture, equipment, fixtures, and donated materials as needed.
  • Assist with room setups and teardowns for programs, events, and operational needs.
  • Escort and assist vendors and contractors while on-site.
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicles to transport supplies and materials between locations.
  • Support special projects and facility improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned.
