About The Position

Under direction of a supervisor, in a state department or agency, assists in the operation and maintenance of various types of boats assigned to the unit; does related work as required. This specific position involves periodic manual inspection of Floodgate tide boards, recording, and comparison to digital readouts. The role includes alerting full-time Floodgate staff of impending/needed closings of the gate and potential operations of the interior drainage pumps. When closed, periodic inspections of inland and bayside tide boards are required to track subsidence of flooding events and the ability to reopen.

Requirements

• Possession of a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship, and Immigration Services regulations.
• Must establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey within one year of the date of employment (subject to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7).

Responsibilities

• Assists in the operation and maintenance of various types of boats.
