Maintenance Worker- Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful - Part Time
About The Position
The purpose of this position is to perform manual maintenance work on behalf of Solid Waste and Recycling Division at the landfill and other facilities. This is accomplished by operating heavy equipment; providing assistance in the citizen's convenience area, maintaining the exterior and interior of facilities, mowing, weed-eating, and picking up litter. Other duties include but are not limited to removing debris caused from extreme weather conditions; and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This is a part-time position with the Keep Grand Prairie Beautiful crew working up to 10-19 hours per week.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License
Nice To Haves
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Experience in manual and unskilled maintenance work in a landfill environment preferred
Responsibilities
- Operating heavy equipment
- Shoveling and raking waste material, compost, mulch and dirt
- Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment
- Controlling traffic
- Cleaning work site
- Performing maintenance activities using equipment such as a loader, trucks, riding mower, tractor, and mobile sweeper
- Operating riding mower and tractor for grounds maintenance
- Maintaining common areas, large fields, and acreage
- Removing debris out of the mower's path
- Trimming trees
- Using a weed eater around trees
- Cleaning along the edge of the fence with a mobile weed eater
- Cleaning sidewalks and walkways
- Checking trash cans and emptying them as needed
- Ensuring that facilities are neat and presentable
- Clearing debris such as fallen trees caused from extreme weather conditions
- Cleaning inlets, curbs, and gutters of debris
- Interacting with other City employees and citizens
