About The Position

Our Roads & Stormwater Division is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker to join our Public Works team. Individuals in this position provide semi-skilled and skilled labor in support of the Public Works Department, helping maintain the safety, functionality, and appearance of our roads and stormwater systems. Requirements

  • High School graduation or GED equivalent is preferred.
  • Maintenance of a valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain within 150 days of employment which meets requirements outlined in the city's personal rules and regulation manual with an acceptable driving history.
  • Stormwater Level 1
  • Maintenance of Traffic Level 1
  • Trenching and Shoring
  • Confined Space
  • Forklift Operator
  • FEMA 100, 200, 700, 800
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Operates dump truck and flatbed truck.
  • Works with and assist heavy equipment operator.
  • Operates heavy equipment on an as needed basis.
  • Assists with installation and repair of storm water sewer lines.
  • Assists with repair, removal and installation of sidewalks and walkways.
  • Assists with forming, pouring, and finishing concrete.
  • Removes and repairs asphalt.
  • Performs regular routine maintenance and service of trucks and equipment.
  • Performs related work as assigned.
