About The Position

The Litter Crew Maintenance Worker performs unskilled and semiskilled manual labor in various areas of assigned responsibility for the Solid Waste Management division. This is a full-time, field position based in Lecanto, FL, and requires frequent travel throughout Citrus County. The scheduled hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM. Employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency, and may be temporarily assigned duties outside their normal scope to meet the needs of the County and its citizens.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Six (6) months of experience performing manual labor.
Ability to effectively use standard maintenance and landscaping equipment and hand tools.
Ability to use personal protection equipment properly.
Requires ability to work outdoors under unpleasant conditions.
Must have sufficient physical strength, agility, and stamina to perform assigned tasks under adverse conditions.
Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.
Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check, pre-employment physical examination, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
Performs litter pickup along County roads, recycling centers, illegal dump sites and landfill.
Installs temporary litter fences and perform general grounds maintenance.
Assists with installation of drainage ditches.
Assists customer service and hazardous waste staff.
Works and assists in the Citizen's drop-off area as needed.
Performs other duties as required.
Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
