About The Position

This position is a working leader assigned responsibility for building and utility maintenance work. The position provides daily direction to at least 3 employees. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: April-May 2027. Open to the first 75 applicants.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Direct Deposit participation required.
  • Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • May need a valid driver's license throughout employment.
  • You may be required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards.
  • You may be required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority.
  • You must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
  • You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
  • Some positions at Saguro National Park will need a Tier 1 plus childcare background check.

Responsibilities

  • Performs and leads work in the following trades: carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, cement finishing, and masonry.
  • Construct, install, repair and replace items such as doors, shelves, supply racks, hardware.
  • Paint various types of structures such as interior and exterior metal, wood and masonry surfaces, and a variety of wooden trim and new and old cabinets.
  • Make independent judgments and decisions within the framework of instructions, accepted practices, and procedures.
  • Follow and carry out assignments in accordance with established oral or written directions, or established policies and practices.
  • Assemble appropriate materials and supplies necessary to complete daily work projects.
