About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, performs a variety of semi-skilled work below the journeyman level in the mechanical trades, and may have journeyman skills in one or more areas of the building trades.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 18 years old.
  • Two years’ experience in a variety of semi-skilled tasks.
  • May have some journeyman skills.
  • Able to work independently after receiving oral/written directions.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license/good driving record when specified.
  • No weight restrictions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks of a semi-skilled nature requiring the manual use of tools and some mechanical aptitude.
  • Maintains and makes operating repairs to electrical equipment and appliances on burners, gas stoves, refrigerators, boilers, furnaces, dishwashers, disposals, etc.
  • Perform carpentry, masonry, and plumbing tasks below the journeyman level.
  • Repairs and lubricates laundry machinery.
  • Makes periodic rounds of buildings and grounds for protection against fire, theft, and other losses.
  • Will be on weekend/after hours coverage as needed and/or as assigned.
  • Perform weekly generator tests by testing generator under “Load” and record in log book.
  • Check sewer every Monday and Wednesday; clean sewer every Friday or when assigned.
  • Must do a hot water temperature and softness check on a weekly basis and record readings in log book.
  • Must take temperature reading of all homes weekly and record in log book.
  • Perform painting duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • In compliance with Milestone, Inc.’s philosophy and policies regarding Human Rights, immediately intervenes in behalf of the individual(s) served and reports to the appropriate agency (OIG, DCFS, IDPH) and/or supervisor.
  • Perform and log all PM Schedules and Checklists on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed
