In this hands-on role, you'll help maintain the City's rights-of-way, public spaces, and facilities through landscaping, general maintenance, equipment operation, and repair work. From maintaining streetscapes and drainage areas to supporting community events and emergency response efforts, your work will have a direct impact on the safety, appearance, and functionality of our community. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; AND five (5) years of general maintenance experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Understanding basic landscape irrigation systems, including repair and maintenance checks
• Basic ROW maintenance operations and ability to train/guide field staff.
• Safety policies, procedures, and practices.
• Contractual service provisions/ability to assess third-party/extended service operation
• Operating basic landscaping equipment, tractors, and familiar with backhoe basic operations
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Receiving direction, working independently, and occasionally leading of field operations
• Valid State Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Performs various routine/preventative maintenance activities; checks and repairs landscape items, assesses small engine, and various equipment; change/replace street signs and fixtures.
• Trims trees and bushes; cleans street drainage structures; mows and edges grass; applies fertilizer and mulch; sprays weeds; collects trash as needed.
• Provides assessment report to Superintendent; assists with supervision of assigned areas; Bandit sign operation; ROW preparation/coordination with contracted services for City events as needed.
• Maintains an inventory basic lawn maintenance products related supplies; report/order-assist with supplies as needed.
• Assists with the set-up of events including emergency response operation preparedness.
• This position is considered Critical Personnel during a natural or manmade disaster and/or a catastrophic event.
• This position may be required to provide services or perform duties for the benefit of the public and the continuity of City operations.
• Performs other duties as required.
