About The Position

The City of Topeka is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Worker II for its Parking division. This role involves performing preventive maintenance and routine operational tasks in various City parking facilities, including garages, lots, and structures. Responsibilities include maintaining gates, ticket machines, card readers, and associated equipment, as well as performing landscaping duties such as mowing, trimming, and debris removal. The position also entails maintenance of parking meters, including installation, removal, painting, and repairs. Successful candidates will gain experience with bi-monthly pay-on-foot station cash handling and the Scan Net computerized gate system.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Must possess and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license and city insurable driving record.
One (1) year experience in building maintenance, construction, or grounds maintenance is required.
A basic knowledge of mechanics and/or plumbing hand tools.
Knowledge of standard safety practices.
Thrives in a mobile work environment.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on parking garages, including gates, ticket machines, card readers, and overhead operator equipment.
Perform outside landscaping, including mowing, trimming, and trash and debris removal.
Perform parking meter maintenance, including installation, removal, painting, and repairs.
Learn bi-monthly, Pay-On-Foot station cash handling procedures.
Learn the Scan Net computerized gate system.
