About The Position

This position is responsible for performing skilled work in the maintenance of streets, park grounds, and facilities. The role also assists in the maintenance of the City's open ditches, canals, basins, sidewalks, and other areas. The work involves performing skilled manual and semi-skilled work in asphalt installation, repair, and maintenance of City streets. Employees will employ basic skills in the use of hand tools required for asphalt work, be familiar with equipment capabilities, and perform daily routine checks and inspections, making minor repairs and adjustments. Other duties include leaf collection, construction repair, winter storm activities, and maintenance of stormwater systems, all while following safety guidelines.

Requirements

• High School Degree or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid Class CDL- B driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina within six months of hire.
