About The Position
Seasonal Maintenance opportunities are available for individuals seeking a commitment of up to 6 months, or summer only employment, at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm and the Olathe Memorial Cemetery. Duties may include, but are not limited to, general and grounds maintenance, light custodial, painting, basic carpentry, and other related tasks. The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for performing a variety of duties for one of the following crews: Park Maintenance, Sports Field Maintenance, Horticulture, Forestry or Park Construction. Work is completed independently requiring a high degree of initiative and motivation.
Requirements
- No experience is required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid driver's license and favorable driving record are required.
- Work requires the ability to navigating uneven ground and exposure to a variety of outdoor elements such as heat, cold, rain, and dust.
- Lifting and operating powered equipment requires lifting, manual dexterity, and frequent physical exertion.
Responsibilities
- Operates a variety of mowing and outdoor maintenance equipment
- Installs and maintains landscaping
- Plants and maintains trees and other plants
- Maintains athletic fields and other outdoor areas
- Picks up trash and debris
- Completes light custodial work
