About The Position

Perform all duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor/Manager/Director. Identifies deficiencies and deviations from maintenance schedules and standards and performs inspection and inspection test of equipment and buildings. Performs general repairs/maintenance as well as minor plumbing and electrical repairs. Assists other mechanical maintenance tradesmen as directed. May operate light or heavy equipment and maintain equipment and tools. Assists with snow removal as needed. Other job-related duties as assigned. Overtime may be required. Good hygiene and cleanliness are required at all times. Must adhere to the company uniform policy. Maintain a clean vehicle and make the office aware of maintenance issues. Follow rules and regulations as described in the company handbook.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 0-3 years of experience required
• Ability to read, write and follow directions
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, heating/cooling and general repairs
• Must be familiar with and adhere to all the safety rules and regulations for the University Safety Policy which apply to the work environment.
• Considerable physical activity.
• Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
• Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
• Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up and down stairs.
• Must be able to spend a significant amount of time outside in all weather conditions.
• Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of experience in a specific trade preferred (i.e., plumbing, electrical, etc.).
