About The Position

The City of O'Fallon, MO is currently hiring for the position of Maintenance Worker I - Streets. This role is ideal for a reliable worker looking to start or further their career in the road construction industry, offering a stable work environment with guaranteed 40-hour work weeks year-round within the Public Works Division. The position offers competitive hourly rates and a starting rate of $24.74 in the first year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid commercial driver's license (Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement).
  • Desire to build and expand knowledge of basic principles and practices used in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm sewers and facilities.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Willingness to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that requires the use of protective devices such as high visibility clothing, goggles, gloves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in working with concrete is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the maintenance and repair of city streets and related infrastructure.
  • Assisting with concrete removal and repair, including finishing concrete, patching asphalt and repairing sidewalks.
  • Setting up safe work zones with the assigned crew.
  • Operating a variety of equipment, including dump trucks, backhoes, concrete saws, street sweepers, and chain saws.
  • Transporting equipment and supplies to and from job sites.
  • Repairing damages caused by construction projects or snow removal.
  • Performing preventative maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
