About The Position

The City of O'Fallon, Missouri is looking to hire a reliable Maintenance Worker I for our Stormwater crew. As part of our Street Division, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events. To excel as a Maintenance Worker I with the City of O'Fallon, a strong set of skills and personal attributes is essential. Your problem-solving abilities will be critical in addressing challenges as they arise in the field. Physical stamina and dexterity are required for executing tasks such as repairing storm sewer structures, excavating underground pipes and operating heavy equipment like excavators and backhoes. Depending on the day, the Stormwater Maintenance crew can be found inspecting and cleaning stormwater systems, ensuring their optimal performance, filling sinkholes and inspecting and cleaning high flow areas following rainstorms.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).
• Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of municipal stormwater systems.
• Ability to perform daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
• Ability to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that requires the use of protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.
• Problem-solving abilities.
• Physical stamina and dexterity.

Responsibilities

• Performing dye tests of storm sewer structures to ensure proper water flow.
• Repairing driveways and yards.
• Cleaning basins and unclogging storm lines.
• Assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure.
• Inspecting and cleaning stormwater systems.
• Filling sinkholes.
• Inspecting and cleaning high flow areas following rainstorms.
