About The Position

The City of O'Fallon, Missouri is looking to hire a reliable Maintenance Worker I for our Stormwater crew. This position is part of the Street Division and is responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure. The schedule is generally daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events. To excel in this role, strong problem-solving abilities, physical stamina, and dexterity are essential for tasks such as repairing storm sewer structures, excavating underground pipes, and operating heavy equipment. Daily tasks may include inspecting and cleaning stormwater systems, filling sinkholes, and cleaning high flow areas after rainstorms. Other responsibilities include performing dye tests of storm sewer structures, repairing driveways and yards, and unclogging storm lines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL).
  • Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of municipal stormwater systems.
  • Ability to perform daily tasks in varying weather conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Ability to use protective gear such as masks, goggles, and gloves.

  • Experience working as a general laborer.
  • Possession of a CDL.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure.
