About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dependable, hardworking Maintenance Worker I to join our Facilities Maintenance team. This position plays a key role in keeping our city buildings safe, functional, and welcoming for employees, residents, and visitors. The Maintenance Worker I assists in the repair, upkeep, and general maintenance of city buildings and facilities. This role supports preventive maintenance, responds to repair needs, and helps ensure city properties remain in excellent condition.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of building repair and maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC installation and repair.
  • Skill in identifying problems and implementing effective solutions.
  • Skill in operating construction equipment.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One to two years of related experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship with relevant skills.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri driver's license appropriate for assigned vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance, general repairs, new construction tasks, and emergency repairs in city buildings.
  • Maintains and repairs electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Paints interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Cleans and repairs gutters.
  • Completes and reports work orders accurately.
  • Performs mosquito control duties.
  • Inspects buildings and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Assists with snow and ice removal.
  • Sets up meeting rooms for city operations and events.
  • Collects and disposes of trash and recyclables.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
