The City of Steamboat Springs is hiring a Facilities Maintenance Worker to join their team! This position performs a variety of skilled, semi‑skilled, and technical tasks and operates a variety of equipment and tools in the maintenance and custodial operations of buildings, grounds and city owned property.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Two years of construction, maintenance, or repair experience.
  • Working knowledge and operation of construction equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in building maintenance, custodial duties and to perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely using applicable safety precautions.
  • Ability to work independently and to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, coworkers, vendors, subcontractors, and the public.
  • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn Outlook, Workday, Zen Desk, and other relevant systems.
  • Have and maintain a valid Colorado State’s Driver’s License.
  • A criminal background check will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while always espousing safety.
  • Assists with and or performs annual and routine inspections and preventative maintenance to include but not limited to elevators, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, thermostats, AED’s, emergency lighting, interior and exterior lighting, and overall standard building conditions.
  • Inspects and ensures the maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Operates medium-sized equipment to light construction/power equipment, such as pick-up trucks, plows, snow blowers, steam cleaners, buffers, power washers, paint sprayers, plumbing augers, various power tools, etc.
  • Performs skilled and semi‑skilled interior building maintenance such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and other unskilled and semi‑skilled trades work and assists with all facility remodels.
  • Maintain current skills and knowledge in the proper and safe techniques of building and maintenance functions and complies with all Federal, State, and Local codes.
  • Clear snow and ice from facility sidewalks and walkways as needed.
  • Replace lighting/lamps as scheduled throughout all City buildings.
  • Promptly responds to lock and unlock facilities when requested.
  • Assist with the collection and disposal of refuse & recycling on Lincoln Avenue, some City Facilities, and bus shelters when needed.
  • Pick-up litter from City premises when required.
  • May be required to purchase small tools, building materials and other supplies necessary to perform facilities maintenance and custodial duties.
  • Online purchases / recommendations may also be required.
  • Provide all credit card receipts with AP coding to office staff on a weekly basis.
  • Assists in setting up and taking down equipment for various Facility and Public programs and prepares facilities for special events and public use.
  • Utilize facility work order program to record and track work order requests and costs incurred in a timely manner.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
