About The Position

The City of Pomona is seeking dedicated individuals to fill Maintenance Worker I (Custodial) positions in its Community Services department. These are at-will, hourly/part-time positions, limited to an average of 20 hours per week and less than 1,000 hours in a twelve (12) month period. The ideal candidate is highly reliable, detail-oriented, possesses excellent maintenance skills for a clean and sanitized environment, is self-motivated, committed to safety protocols, and a team player. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year of related experience in maintenance and/or custodial.
  • Possess and maintain a valid California Class "C" driver's license and have a good driving record.
  • Familiarity with common tools and equipment used in custodial work.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, as well as, read and write basic English.
  • Lift objects up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide custodial maintenance at various community centers including swimming facilities.
  • Maintain restrooms, empty trash cans, sweep and mop floors, and assist with stripping and waxing hard surface floors.
  • Provide equipment set up and tear down for City sponsored special events, such as mobile stages, tables, chairs, bleachers, heavy movie screens, and sound systems.
  • Set up and monitor Community Centers' rentals.
  • Identify and report building maintenance needs in assigned buildings and facilities.
  • Maintain inventories of supplies; deliver supplies, equipment, and furniture to City facilities.
